2020 was a pretty dark year to say the least.
but it would be pretty stupid not to acknowledge that some good did come out of it.
for fans of ERD, one good thing came in the form of the edition noire collection.
that year, instead of their two standard seasonal collection releases, creative director henri alexander levy upped the ante with a shock drop third collection.
but this release was much, much different.
not just from all of the collections which preceded it, but from all of those to come as well.
the edition noire collection featured a mesh of iconic prior models with brand new, highly experimental silhouettes.
and as the collection's title suggests, all pieces from the collection were the darkest black, at substantially higher retails and measures of quality.
alongside fan favorites like the heavyweight calfskin utility pants (which were released on a made to order basis at a retail of over $3,500), more avant garde pieces, such as a nylon duck hunting jacket saw their release at similarly high price points.
due to the dormant popularity and spending habits of fashion consumers during this year, a vast majority of pieces from this collection became lost to time, and remain as some of the rarest & most elusive pieces the brand has ever released.
this jacket embodies every defining characteristic of that release.
created on a made to order basis, the exact quantities of this release are an unknown, extremely low number.
in a previously unused waxed leather material, it also features an experimental semi-cropped silhouette as to reveal the layers of clothing the wearer has on below it.
it also features tonal ERD embroidery at the front chest, which ONLY ONE other piece features in the same position: the iconic PORN STARS hoodie from this same era.
needless to say, this is one of the rarest, and most representative pieces of outerwear from the true height of erd's golden era.
