INFO

2020.

the year the simulation glitched and the natural trajectory of culture was thrown off forever.

whether it changed for the worse or for the better is a matter of personal opinion...

just kidding.

shit definitely got worse.

few artistic releases worth remembering came from the covid era, generally speaking.

and funnily enough, ERD’s collections during that timeframe were one of them.

freshly sober and directing the brand in a new path as a result, ERD’s clothes became a lot cleaner and more casual which was a stark contrast to its previous collections.

alongside a greater emphasis on tailoring, a more uniformal aesthetic emerged during this season, drawing from less obvious references than in years prior.

autumn/winter 2021 was one of the final seasons of golden era erd, with quality and new ideas declining in the years following.

many brands in the past have tried to make a great shift like ERD has, such as raf simons or even givenchy, but the brands ultimately fell flat on their face with ssuch efforts.

this was because they tried to do creative 180's, introducing new ideas that didn't mesh with their brand ethos very well.

instead, erd successfully pulled this off by refining the motifs and ideas from prior collections into something more cohesive.

sticking true to his punk roots, ERD’s aesthetic shifted to more formalwear with hints to that seedy nature.

this shirt, perfect for layering, is a stark example of this shift. the graphic is not too in-your-face and is more meant to be subtle and comfortable compared to the wearer’s full outfit.

additionally, the reference source of this graphic is still unknown until today.

thing has the perfect drape.

but in true ERD fashion, you can wear it however you want and it’ll work.

wear it for summer or winter, we both know you could pull it off.
