INFO

low place like home vintage.

this one looks like it's straight from ERD.

most fucked and museum level vintage tee I own.

straight from my personal collection.

you will never find this again.

brian jones.

founding member of the rolling stones. the guy who built the band from nothing and gave it its name.

dead at 27 in the pool of his own home. 1969.

the poem flanking both sides of the portrait is from "Ode to L.A. While Thinking of Brian Jones, Deceased" written by jim morrison the moment he found out his closest friend was gone. "Copyright, 1969, James Douglas Morrison. All rights reserved." printed right there on the shirt.

the shirt features the second half of the poem. left side reads: "Leaves, sodden in silk / Chlorine dream / mad stifled Witness / The diving board, the plunge / The pool / you were a fighter / a damask musky muse / You were the bleached / Sun for TV afternoon / horned-toads / maverick of a yellow spot / Look now to where it's got / You / in meat heaven / w/ the cannibals / & jews." right side reads: "The gardener / Found / The body, rampant, Floating / Lucky Stiff / What is the green pale stuff / You're made of / poke holes in the goddess / Skin / Will he Ski / Carried heavenward / Thru hill / of music / No chance / Requiem / That smile / That porky satyr's / leer / has leaped clear / into the loam."

morrison originally printed this poem on bleached green parchment with olive ink and handed copies out at doors shows at the aquarius theatre in hollywood weeks after jones died. only 500 were ever made. two years later morrison himself was found dead in a body of water at the same age. 27.

this is a late 70s memorial tee and one of the most important rock and roll shirts we've ever listed. the graphic, the context, the history behind it. this isn't merch. this is a document.

faded from black down to a deep olive brown that only 45+ years of natural aging can produce. the front graphic is still fully legible and the portrait still hits hard from across the room.

minor pinholes at the back and collar area that add to the character without compromising wearability. the cotton is tissue-thin and featherweight in the best way possible. broken in beyond belief.

this is a museum level piece that you can still throw on and wear out. pieces like this don't come up for sale. they sit in collections and stay there.
